CARNAGE Trials
Bullets, majority votes, and what happens if the killer walks.
A Trial is the courtroom chapter after a body is reported. Spotless players try to majority-vote the Blackened. The Blackened tries to scramble that majority. If Spotless succeed, the killer dies and the game continues a person lighter. If they fail, the Blackened lives and may execute someone who voted incorrectly.
That is the entire stake. Coins also pay out to the winning side of the vote, which is why throwing a Trial is expensive twice. Currency details sit on coins and tickets. The pocket key list is the cheatsheet.
Before the courtroom: investigation
Reporting starts a short investigation window. Walk the scene. Note blood versus no blood. Note whether a weapon was dropped (Knife, Hammer, Bat, Gun, Tanto, C9) or not (Gloves, C4, Collar, Gasoline). Nurse can read exact time and weapon after inspecting. Programmer can change the apparent cause and time, which is why a confident file is not always truth.
Xebeth Files summarize general time, location, and cause. Treat them as a starting claim, not a verdict. Photographer snapshots help if the room will be cleaned. Maid and mops erase blood. If the floor is clean, ask who had a mop or Maid, not “so there was no kill.”
Truth bullets and the gun UI
In Trial you fire truth bullets during the nonstop debate. Official binds:
- Q / E or touch the gun to switch bullet mode
- Hold R to switch which evidence is loaded
Debater gets an extra bullet and longer turns. That is why Debater climbs the Ultimates tier list for people who win with talk instead of steel. Do not dump every bullet in the first ten seconds. Save one for a contradiction you hear late.
Speak in facts: room, time window, who held a static weapon, who refused to show an Ultimate. Vibes are how Blackened escape.
Voting and the wrong-vote tax
Majority decides. If the Blackened is voted, they are executed and the chapter ends in Spotless favor. If the vote misses, the killer picks a victim from the people who voted wrong. That rule is the whole mind game. A Blackened who can split the room does not need a second kill on the map.
Supreme Leader’s vote counts double after they reveal. That can save or sink a Trial. If someone reveals Leader late, ask why the timing is convenient.
How Spotless should talk
- Offer one alibi with a landmark from map and tasks.
- Call unique audio: Toy Hammer squeak, Gun shots, Bat splatter, Gloves crack.
- Ask who searched which furniture. Weapons return to their furniture if the holder leaves.
- Do not pile on a quiet player just because they are quiet. Motive letters exist.
How Blackened should talk
- Keep your story shorter than the truth. Extra details are how you trip.
- Blame a weapon you did not use. If you used Gloves (no blood), accuse a bloody weapon only if someone else could have cleaned.
- Vote with a group so you are not the only wrong vote if you need to spend that privilege later.
- Read Blackened for the pre-Trial work this speech depends on.
After the Trial
Win or lose, the lobby shrinks. Hunger still ticks. New motives can land. The finish line is still three living players, not “we caught one killer.” Go back to how to win if you treat each Trial like the end of the match.
