CARNAGE How to Be Blackened

You become Blackened the instant another participant dies to you. There is no prep phase and no secret card. The map, the blood, the dropped weapon, and the next Trial are now your problem. This page is the killer checklist. If you have not killed yet, read how to play first so you know what you are giving up.

The win condition does not change. You still need to be one of three living players. Killing is only a tool to shrink the field and to farm the Blackened Trial payout if you survive the vote.

Pick the weapon for the story you can tell

The weapons tier ranks tools by evidence, not by style.

• Gloves: neck snap from behind, crack sound, no blood, not dropped. Best first kill if you can isolate.
• C9 Poison: silent, no blood, can hit you too. Chemist exists to ruin this plan.
• Knife / Tanto: fast, blood splatters, must be dropped. Fine if you can mop or play Maid.
• Toy Hammer: squeak everyone hears. Only use if you want chaos.
• Gun: loud, limited ammo, blood. You are announcing a chapter.
• C4 / Collar / Gasoline: big visual, self-risk, often not dropped. Bomber sees other C4.

If you cannot explain the evidence your weapon prints, do not use that weapon. Static weapons from tasks are especially dangerous because people remember who earned them.

Clean the scene or never make a scene

Blood splatters and pools are the most common hang. Maid cleans blood on your body. Mops clean floors but trap your item slot while dirty. Drag the body if you need time; hold Q or E and tap S to walk while dragging. Reporting your own kill is a high-level play only if your alibi is already better than the scene.

Programmer can rewrite cause and time. Cosplayer can wear another face. Those roles turn a messy kill into a frame. They also paint a target on you if someone saw the transform. Use them as planned kits, not as panic buttons. See abilities.

Build an alibi before the scream

The best Blackened work happens two minutes before the kill: be seen in a task room, ping a teammate, search furniture in public. After the kill, return to a populated route. “I was alone in Area 5” is how you get listed first in Trial.

Motive letters can force a kill. If you received one, you still choose the weapon. A forced kill with a Gun is still a loud kill.

Survive the vote

Talk less than the victim’s friends. Vote with a cluster. If the room splits, you may get to execute a wrong-voter and shrink the lobby without another messy body. Supreme Leader’s double vote is a threat; if they are alive, either befriend the reveal or make sure they look like the killer.

When not to kill

If you already have a path to three as Spotless, put the weapon back. Extra Blackened chapters are extra chances to be wrong. Hunger, C4, and deathmatches can shrink the lobby without your fingerprints. Pair this page with getting started if you are killing because you are bored, not because you have a plan.
