Map and Tasks Guide

The CARNAGE map is a large indoor complex divided into five areas plus Area 6, the secret deathmatch zone. Each area has rooms, furniture, food spawns, and sometimes cameras. Knowing which room is in which area decides whether you live through an investigation or walk into a frame.

The mid-article video covers the layout visually. Use it to get oriented, then use the table below to plan your route.

Movement and line of sight

Area 1 and Area 2 are connected by blackout corridors. Area 3 funhouse is tight and has very little food, which forces players toward Area 4 or Area 5 for sustenance. Security cameras in Area 3 now highlight the user in white — if you see that marker while investigating, someone is watching through cameras and you are in their sightline.

Area 5 vents were updated with a “Nighttime” mechanic. Using vents during the night phase is faster but creates unique audio tells that experienced Spotless players will pin to a location.

Food spawns

Food restores hunger (30 for Xebeth Cola, 75 for Steak). Hunger is not cosmetic — low hunger limits sprint and eventually movement speed. Key spawn points:

  • Xebeth Cola spawns on countertops and near vending-style machines in Areas 1–2 and Area 4.
  • Steak spawns in kitchen-adjacent rooms; Area 3 funhouse has almost none.
  • Food was removed from the security room to prevent camping.

Camera locations

Cameras are in Area 3 (moved from Area 4 after patch) and Area 4. A player using cameras is highlighted in white to other players — this is a deliberate counter to silent camera watching. If you are Blackened and need to move unseen, avoid the camera sightlines in those areas.

Area 6 and the deathmatch

Area 6 is not a standard exploration zone. It triggers a last-standing deathmatch for players who reach it. This is the location for unlocking Ultimate Survivor (see secret ultimates). The deathmatch is separate from the main three-survivor win condition.

Tasks and static weapons

Tasks reward players with static weapons (a second weapon slot). These weapons are also alibis — if you are found with a task weapon, you can explain it was from a completed task, not from a furniture spawn. Key task types:

  • Searching furniture in any area for a static weapon.
  • Completing area-specific objectives that reward a guaranteed static drop.
  • Disconnecting players lose their weapons to the floor.

Lucky Student and Weapon Artist ultimates affect task loot quality. Read how to play for the full interaction table.

What changed in recent patches

  • Area 4: barrier blocking art room crates fixed.
  • Area 3: cameras moved here from Area 4.
  • Area 3: funhouse added with very scarce food.
  • Area 5: vents “Nighttime” added, new dorms added.
  • Food removed from security room to stop camping.
  • Bubble chat and cleaner chat input bar.
